Why choose our salts?

Each of our water treatment salts is designed to fulfil a very specific function:

Regenerating the resin in the water softener using our water softener salts
Treating swimming pool water using electrolysis with our pool salts.

Indeed, not all salts are created equal… and the salt tablets used in water treatment must meet specific criteria.

Swimming Pool Salt Standard: EN16401-Quality A

Our swimming pool salts comply with the European standard EN 16401 – Quality A*, which defines the physico-chemical purity criteria suited to the requirements of salt electrolysis in swimming pools. In addition to defining the purity of the salt (minimum 99.4% NaCl for Grade A), maximum concentration limits are set for certain metals such as copper, iron and manganese. These chemical compounds are responsible for reducing the lifespan of the electrodes and causing permanent stains on the pool linings.

Standard EN 14805 Type 1 for water softening salt: describes the characteristics and specifies the relevant requirements and test methods for sodium chloride.

Standard EN 973 Grade A: describes the minimum quality requirements that this sodium chloride must meet for use in water softeners (origin, chemical purity, heavy metal content): all our salts comply with this standard.

Standard for water treatment equipment: NF
The NF mark provides indisputable proof that our products meet market requirements and comply with the safety, suitability for use and quality characteristics defined in the certification standard.

certifications

ECOCERT Eco-detergent:

Our salts for water softeners are Ecocert-certified, which guarantees:
• environmentally friendly production and processing methods
• the use of ingredients of natural or organic origin
• responsible management of natural resources
• the exclusion of most petrochemical ingredients

OFG (Origine France Garantie): With the majority of its production sites based in France, Salins is the only producer of salts for swimming pools and water softeners to offer products certified under the Origine France Garantie scheme.

30% recycled plastic:

Committed to conserving resources and protecting the environment, we work every day to reduce the amount of plastic we use, a major source of pollution on our planet.

As a result, we have introduced packaging for our water treatment sachets that contains 30% polyethylene sourced from the industrial post-consumer recycling stream.

A new logo has been added to the packaging for water softener and swimming pool salts, enabling consumers to clearly identify the change.
